Boyertown Junior Woman’s Club - Once Upon a Prom - Local Girls Say "Yes" to the Dress

[Boyertown, Pa- March 19, 2023] – Boyertown Junior Woman’s Club (BJWC)recently held their Once Upon a Prom event at Boyertown YMCA. Once Upon a Prom is about helping girls have a memorable prom experience. Racks and racks of new and gently used dresses were set up and displayed with other items such as shoes and jewelry.

The event in its ninth year saw record number attendance. Almost 60 young ladies browsed the collection of 1,000 plus dresses! Most of the girls attending left with multiple dresses and even a few accessories to complete the outfit. Once again, bright-colored dresses and dresses adorned with jewels and “bling” were the most popular pick.

 "This event has gotten bigger each year, and the number of donations from the community is just amazing. Every year we can help more and more girls find the perfect dress. It is so rewarding to see girls leave so excited about their big day and to know that we made that possible for them to go," offers Anita Zuber, Once Upon a Prom committee chair.

The event, which was held March 4th, 5th, 11th, and 12th saw local girls attending from Boyertown, as well as those who traveled from areas such as Pottstown, Pottsgrove, Owen J. Roberts, Daniel Boone, Upper Perk, Perkiomen Valley, Norristown, as well as Northwestern and Cyber schools.

An event such as this would not be possible without the generosity and support from individuals and organizations. BJWC would like to thank Alicia Dinnell, executive director of the Boyertown YMCA, for use of their rooms; Agnes Edmunds Bridal & Formals and Alessia’s Bridal & Formal Wear for their dress donations; Revive Upscale Resale Shop for dress and jewelry donations; Zuber Realty for storing and transporting dresses and accessories; as well as the community at large for their kind-hearted donations.

While the event was free, voluntary donations were accepted. The money collected will be donated back into the community by Boyertown Junior Woman's Club.
