Beth Glick confesses: “Nothing quite like a September morning.”

“The true artists see the world, the colors, the sounds, feel the heartbeat and the emotions in a different way than most of us do. They can paint, write, hear things that we can’t. It is a perspective, a dimension we can only glimpse at and say we understand. But, not really. It’s ok. That’s why they are here. To help us, if we care, see the depth of many, many dimensions,” describes contemporary painter Rob Davenport as he strives to explain what makes artists different from most of us.

Beth shares her inspiration for taking the photo: “I love foggy September mornings, when there's still green from summer but it's starting to color up. I love the openness of the road and I like to capture road pictures, lines and signs and get a different perspective by getting closer to the road. I love to take a walk on the back roads in the morning. It's so calming and beautiful.”

Beth’s photo invites us to journey on the road with her, and some of us speculated about what music we might pair with the photograph. Not having the eyes or ears of an artist, I suggested the obvious: “Life is a Highway,” or even more so, Tracy Chapman’s “Fast Car.”

But retired Boyertown's science teacher and former DJ Dave Fisherowski offered a more thoughtful choice: “September Morn” by Neil Diamond. “What do you expect from an incurable romantic,” he explains.

Beth Forney Glick, a Boyertown Area Senior High alum and owner with her husband, of Glick’s Nursery in Oley, proved Davenport’s point this morning when she shared her photo of a nearby road in Oley on Facebook.

Thank you for your beautiful article and kind words. I love the song you picked, I always think of the song by Lee Greenwood called Mornin' Ride

I'm gonna take my baby on a mornin' ride
When the sun comes slippin' 'round the mountain side...
Ain't nothin' me and her would rather do than see the green grass glist'nin' in the mornin' dew...
