I love this houseplant for its deep burgundy leaves, its pretty lilac flowers, and its independence. There's no keeping it alive during fall and winter.; it completely fades away. Leaves on spindly stalks wither, and there's no way to tell if the plant has any life left.
And yet, year after year, it returns. Our routine over decades has been to return it to its outdoor position on my balcony porch the week after school ended. From there, each morning I'd watch it return to its full glory.
Patchy rain nearby, with a high of 78 and low of 64 degrees. Don't forget your umbrella! Patchy rain nearby during the morning, partly cloudy during the afternoon and evening, mist overnight.

I am in awe of this glass artwork and plan to visit the Corning Museum exhibit soon! Thanks for making us aware of our local pioneers.
