Railbike tours return to Colebrookdale Railroad after yearlong hiatus POTTSTOWN, Pa.

Secret Valley Excursions, a railbike tour experience along the Colebrookdale Railroad, has reopened for the 2026 season following a year-long hiatus. The new season introduces a tour route departing from Pottstown, along with new railbikes.

Tours are now managed by Awakening Rails Pennsylvania LLC. Located along the Manatawny Creek, the four-mile round-trip guided tour combines rail travel with outdoor recreation. Riders experience southeastern Pennsylvania’s natural landscape while learning about local history and the early use of pedal-powered rail equipment.

Passengers ride in recumbent-style railbikes designed to run securely on the tracks. Each bike seats up to four riders. Electric-assist railbikes are also available, offering throttle support for those who prefer not to pedal.

The operation is led by Daniel Day, founder of Awakening Rails Pennsylvania LLC, who brings prior industry experience from railbike operations in Michigan and Oklahoma. “I am excited to bring this experience back and take it to the next level,” said Day. “We have the most beautiful section of track I’ve ever led tours on, and I have been amazed by how much wildlife I have seen from the bike. I am excited to share it with everyone.”

Secret Valley Excursions operates in partnership with the Colebrookdale Railroad, managed by the Colebrookdale Railroad Preservation Trust. “The railbike offers a way to experience the Secret Valley unlike any other: at your own pace, under your own power, with nothing between you and the woods, waters, and history of this remarkable corridor,” said Nathaniel Guest, executive director of the trust. “We are thrilled to welcome the public back this season, and we invite our neighbors and visitors alike to discover the valley as they have never seen it before.”

Tours are designed to accommodate a wide range of riders. Certain safety requirements apply, including a 250-pound per-person weight limit. Infants who cannot sit upright may ride only in a customer-provided chest harness. More information, including schedules and booking details, is available at
