In a world awakened to the harsh reality of supply-chain challenges, Christina Marshall knows that farm-to-table is where it’s at. The General Manager of The Ironstone, Marshall brings 26 years of experience in the restaurant industry to the table. Her first order of business: teaming up with a top-notch Chef. Meet the Ironstone Team.

Executive Chef John Hanna has practiced his culinary art up and down the East coast. Hailing from the deep South, as he calls it, you may taste a little Southern flare now and again in his culinary creations. He is a champion of local produce and uses established relationships with local farmers and anglers to source his ingredients. The menu he creates is constantly changing to reflect the catch-of-the-day or the fresh harvest, taking full advantage of the agricultural area. Marshall and Hanna make a formidable team, bringing new life to this eating establishment in downtown Boyertown.

The exterior of this late-1800’s historic building is an unassuming brick, with hints of its past, as a hotel and saloon. It has been many things over the years, originating as a public house and then becoming the William Penn Hotel, with 31 rooms and a stable for 30 horses. During prohibition times, it was known as The Mansion House and was well known for serving drinks to patrons in the basement. One of Boyertown’s oldest operating restaurants, it once boasted a specialty of oysters at 60 cents for 100!

Inside, the place has been transformed with a completely overhauled and modernized kitchen, revamped high-top tables and large group or family seating options. The challenge to keep a sense of the building’s past while also blending the comforts and appeal of today has been well met.

Open 6 days a week, today's restaurant is an inviting spot for any occasion. A veritable Gastro Pub, it sports a large bar area with exceptional beer selections and craft cocktails: a win for after-work gatherings and business dinners. The Ironstone will also be a draw for families or for date nights, with “refined comfort food” that offers everyday classics along with special occasion choices and exotic offerings.

Ironstone offers a nod to its past with Tuesday Night Oyster nights. While the menu is often meat-heavy, there are vegetarian and seafood options, with classics such as snapper soup.

And this is just the beginning! Future plans include: private dining facilities; outdoor seating and live music.

The Ironstone had a soft opening in 2022, but the public is invited to celebrate its opening at an official ribbon cutting on April 8th at Noon.
