September 5, 1992: The beautiful, legendary model and Gilbertsville native Elaine Irwin and the rock sensation John Mellencamp were married today.
They had met the previous year when she modeled for the cover of his album Whenever We Wanted. She graced the covers of countless magazines, including Vogue and Elle.
I remember Elaine's mom in my grandmother's beauty shop, Bernhard's Beauty Salon, on 4th Street, with the two-story, white garage that overlooked the football stadium. Mrs. Irwin sat in my MomMom's chair and showed my grandmother the photos of her new house. Â
"What did you daughter do? Marry a rock star?" MomMom Bernhard asked.
Calmly, like she had been there before, Mrs. Irwin answered, "Yes."
Sunny, with a high of 91 and low of 64 degrees. Fog for the morning, sunny in the afternoon, clear overnight.
Thank you for this article. We need to hear the stories/experiences of people pro and con.
Thank you for your support, Sandra! Too many people don't know that in "LGBTQIA" the "A" stands for "aly," of which, I can easily count Jane and you as two of them! -Yergz
Sounds like a wonderful time was enjoyed by the children and also their parents. Thank you Mandy and Judy.
