Say yes to the dress: the prom dress!
Boyertown’s Junior Woman’s Club is once again helping junior and senior high school girls attend the end-of-year prom in style. This is the tenth year for their “Once Upon a Prom” project.
Getting outfitted for a prom can be an expensive proposition and the price tag for a formal dress may be out of reach for some students. The club collects donated dresses and accessories, and then makes them available to those in need, to enable local students to have a memorable prom experience.
Donations are already being accepted and must be received by March 1, 2024. They should be clean and gently used, and dropped off at Zuber Realty, 201 E. Philadelphia Ave. The hours for donations are Monday – Friday, 9:00 am- 5:00 pm.
Later, junior and senior high girls will be invited to the event to select a dress, purse, and other accessories at no cost. Scheduled for March 2-3 and March 9-10, from 12:00 noon to 4:00 pm, this year's event will once again be hosted by the Boyertown YMCA, 301 W. Spring St. Boyertown, 19512.
Last year’s “Once Upon a Prom” saw record attendance with girls making choices from a collection of more than 1,000 dresses.
"This event has gotten bigger each year, and the number of donations from the community is just amazing. Every year we can help more and more girls find the perfect dress. It is so rewarding to see girls leave so excited about their big day and to know that we made it possible for them to go," said Anita Zuber, long time club member.
