In the early hours of the morning
when the world is dark
and all around us rests,
I rock with you -
back and forth
back and forth
back and forth
the sound of your gentle breaths
its own melody to soothe my heart.
Your tiny fingers grip my own,
and remind me that
at the end of the day,
my ability to survive
is enough.
I am here
and that is all you need.
