Brian Ludy has shared the sorrowful news of the passing of Dick Ludy.

Dick was one of the pillars of Boyertown baseball over three decades, sharing Mt. Rushmore status with some of the great names of Boyertown baseball; Buck Rhoads, Pidgie Kepner, Don Specht and many other deserving candidates.

As a 1st year assistant in 1969, Dick shared the honor of coaching the '69 Bears Legion team that started a remarkable run through the 70s and 80s, and culminated in a World Series in 1982.

Dick was also a long-time teacher in the Boyertown Area School district, retiring in 1986. At the HS, Dick was a Health and Physical Education teacher.

There is no public service planned. See the obituary for details on how to honor the memory of one of BASH's coaching greats.

A 1979 BASH alum, Philip Repko is a career educator who has worked in the classroom and in administration in public and private schools. He has been writing for fun and no profit since he was a teenager. Phil lives with his wife Julie in Gilbertsville and is the father of three outstanding children, two of whom are also poets and writers. He vacillates between poetry and prose, as the spirit beckons, and is currently working sporadically on a novella and a memoir.
