The Pottstown Area Artist Guild invites you to their next meeting on Sunday, October 11, 2026, from 2-4 p.m. at the Boyer Gallery, 766 Beech Street, Pottstown, PA 19464. The topic for the afternoon focuses on several avenues I've utilized over 20 years that are available to artists to help them promote themselves and their work for sale. Meetings are free and open to everyone.
I'm continuously amazed at the vision, creativity, and assortment of skills that visual artists possess. What they imagine and are driven to do to express an idea are not abilities I possess. My limitations leave me envious and an ardent admirer only.
And yet, I've found that many artists are highly uncomfortable and sometimes resistant to talking about their work or themselves which, of course, hinders their ability to make a living doing what they love.
My efforts since I've retired from teaching have been focused on helping talented people share their stories--and their work--with others. In helping to manage an exhibit space--Studio B Art Gallery in Boyertown; coordinating the community art project Bear Fever; hosting an audio podcast "B Inspired"; co-editing a digital new site The Boyertown Area Expression; and participating in community events that attract visitors, engage participants, or offer information are all done in service to the artists who are involved.
Accompanying me to the meeting to add their thoughts in casual conversation, are Bob Hakun, Studio B's Gallery Director; Erica Vinskie, fragrance artisan; and Sandra Williams, writer and teacher.
We work together, as teammates; and, as they say, "Teamwork makes the dream work."
