Cub has taken a survey concerning the feelings of BASH students on the current method of determining the honor roll. The subject was first brought up during a recent faculty staff meeting, however, no action has been taken.
Out of the 12 homerooms given the survey, four senior, four junior, four sophomore, there were approximately 30 more students in favor of leaving the system as it presently stands. Students who did favor some kind of change had the following kinds of suggestions:
"Grades should be figured based on a cumulative average."
"Minor subjects shouldn't count."
“Gym should be graded "S' or 'U' so that if you get all A's in majors, and would have received a C in gym, you could still make high honors."
"Majors should be averaged together so that if you get all A's and one C in a major, you can still be on the honor roll."
"There shouldn't be any honor roll at all."
Although feelings were well mixed, the general consensus of opinion seemed to be that students receiving all around outstanding grades, with the exception of one C in a major or a low, but not failing, mark in a minor should be allowed on the honor roll.
Patchy rain nearby, with a high of 63 and low of 33 degrees. Sunny in the morning, overcast during the afternoon and evening, clear overnight.
Listening to your community is such an important part of being an elected official. Thanks to all of the candidates who had the courage to come out and answer 17 questions submitted by our community on the fly. I think it’s important to note that none of the incumbent candidates made it a priority to attend.
Thank you for the ghost stories at this time of year. It's great to have the variety of artiicles you (Jane and Leslie) put together for our local information, our entertainment and contemplation--keep up the good work!
