Left to right: Deb Zaharchuk and Katrina Keating Ernst share the mission, opportunities, and future plans at Camino Farms.
by Jane Stahl
Katrina Keating Ernst, program coordinator for Camino Farms, shared the history and mission of the 150+ acre facility between Boyertown and Bally, PA, that has completed its first summer of special-designed programs and is booking reservations for weekend or week-long retreats for 2027. Deb Zaharchuk joined the discussion as the Art Barn's activities director.
Katrina shared her own "artistic" journey that brought her to the farm and provided insight about its mission. Established to serve the "underserved" communities, Camino Farms has welcomed groups of special needs children and adults and those living in pockets of poverty sponsored by local churches or community groups.
The Farm offers activities of all kinds and opportunities and experiences, a menagerie of friendly animals including cattle, dozens of chickens, and gardens for learning "farm" life. The Farm provides food for their tables and for local food banks.
The Farm's long-range plans include employment opportunities for those who may benefit from the welcoming and inclusive atmosphere.
Several Open Houses are planned for the community to learn more about Camino Farms. Visit the website to learn more.
