Building a Better Boyertown welcomed Jena and Jeff Shontz, owners of Bear's Den Fitness, the new fitness gym in town on Saturday, September 17, 2022, at a Ribbon Cutting. The bright, sunny Saturday offered an auspicious initiation to the CrossFit-affiliated gym located within walking distance of downtown Boyertown at 400 E Second Street.
Following the gym’s Ribbon Cutting ceremony on September 17, 2022, Jena brought soft pretzels to Boyertown businesses to introduce herself. Patrons of Studio B Art Gallery were some of the lucky recipients of the treat while learning a bit about the programs offered at Bear's Den.
The CrossFit BDF program offers workouts that are different every day using movements at high intensity, similar to movements that are part of everyday life. It’s the high intensity of those movements that builds greater strength and flexibility.
But, no worries: coaches recognize that every individual is at a different point in their journey; and so, programs are custom-developed to address previous injuries and medical conditions.
Improving health and fitness toward enhancing quality of life are goals that all fitness programs provide, but the Bear's Den encourages a community approach where people at the gym leave their headphones home and, instead, interact with one another to build solid, life-long friendships along with strength, flexibility, balance, endurance, and confidence—the best version of themselves.
CrossFit for Kids emphasizes the fun part of exercise! Programs end with games and the promise that every kid will leave with a smile!
The program called Sweat is dedicated to burning body fat in high intensity 40-minute classes in 5- to 15-minute segments. Sweating is guaranteed!
A special offering is the 5-week Healthy Kids Running Series that takes place at Douglassville Park during spring and fall—now in its 2nd week--and attracts over 200 kids, ages 2-18.
The $45 participation fee includes inclusion in the race, a TShirt, medals, and a point system that leads to trophies for winners in multiple categories.
