Outstanding Citizens Recognized for Contributions to Greater Boyertown Community

Saturday night, April 15, a gala was held to celebrate outstanding local citizens whose contributions to the greater Boyertown area help to improve the quality of life for all. Held at the Boyertown Museum of Historic Vehicles, the event included dinner, an awards presentation, and guest speakers. These award have been presented for 69 years.

Tom McHugh was recognized as Citizen of the Year (above center); Tina Schrode-Fries (left of Tom), as Mentor of the Year; Katie Groff (right of Tom), as First Responder of the Year; and Nicole Stout as Outstanding High School Senior (far left). The Wreaths Across America, Boyertown group was also recognized for their special contribution of holding wreath laying ceremonies at the graves of deceased military members. About 200 people attended to honor those winning awards.

The Boyertown Alumni Marching Band, a community treasure in which Tom McHugh plays a huge role, was excited to help honor him at the event.
