Students and staff throughout BASH recently had the opportunity to visit countries from around the world as part of Culture Day 2023.
Upon entering the "Cub Gym," students received a "passport" for "entry"into the Dominican Republic, Haiti, Jamaica, Puerto Rico, India, Korea, Ghana, Nigeria, Zimbabwe, Guyana, the United States, Germany, Italy, Kenya, Ireland, and Sri Lanka.
The event was hosted by the Student Diversity Union with support from the Impact Club and was held in support of BASH’s No Place for Hate initiatives.
Culture Day is an event created to foster respect for other cultures, understanding of others’ perspectives, and awareness of different nations. Students and staff ‘toured’ the countries by visiting displays that highlighted each country’s culture. At each stop on their world tour, passports were stamped.
The passport included thought-provoking questions such as:
The last stop on ther journey was the Wall of World Maps. Visitors highlighted their favorite part of the journey and talked about what they learned and would like to experience from other cultures at home or through world travel. The visual was meant to evoke a sense of belonging to the world at large from our pinpoint on the maps.
