New Hanover Township invites you to attend their Fall Frolic. This annual event will be held Saturday, September 16 at Hickory Park from noon to 5:00 pm with a rain date of September 17. It is the highlight of the township’s events calendar.

Presented by the Parks and Recreation Committee of the township, a full slate of activity is planned. From noon to 4:00 pm the music duo Stranger Things Rock will perform. A popular attraction at past Frolics, they will bring the sounds of contemporary rock and easy listening to the park.

A variety of vendors are scheduled to participate, some with information to share and others with products and services to sell. These will include state representatives, Hetrick Gardens, Mostly Mutts, a veteran’s group, and a local honey dealer, among others. The New Hanover fire company will also be on site with some of their equipment and the county Book Mobile will visit the event.

Young visitors will enjoy pony rides, a petting zoo, a little train, miniature golf, and cotton candy. In addition, a clown will be on site to make balloon animals for young visitors to the Frolic. Wrist bands will be sold for $10 and will allow children to visit the petting zoo and go on all rides, including the pony rides.

Of course, no event is complete without food. An array of snacks and picnic style food will be available, including fries and popcorn that will be sold by the Upper Salford Fire Company. The Mister Softee truck and frozen ices will provide cool treats, and hot dogs will also be sold. To utilize local businesses, Wilson’s Catering of New Hanover will provide some of the food available for purchase.

“It is a fun community day for us. There is something for everyone,” Sharon DelPorte, shares with enthusiasm. The Recreation Committee liaison from the township staff, DelPorte explains that in recent years, the committee has been more active in looking for new ways to expand events offerings. She emphasizes that volunteers are needed to help realize this goal.

The township’s next major event will be Halloween Haunt on October 28. You can learn about events at the township website here.
