Four Boyertown Area School District Schools Are Seeking Help

Image

[Students at Boyertown, Gilbertsville, New Hanover-Upper Fredrick, and Washington Elementary Schools need your help. The following request is shared from the school district's digital newsletter "Let's Talk Tuesdays."]

We are currently looking for help serving breakfast for approximately 30 minutes each morning at your child’s elementary school. We need two people each day at each building, Monday through Friday, from 8:15 to 8:45 AM. We are looking for people willing to donate their time, as these are unpaid positions.

The primary responsibilities are to provide students with their breakfast options for the day and to hand them their selection as they proceed along the food service line.

The same two people do not need to help every day. If multiple people are interested, we can create a schedule that works for all those willing to help.

As parents/guardians of students in the building, you can bring your child with you as parent drop-off for your 8:15 AM start – earlier than the normal drop-off time. The child(ren) will sit just outside the kitchen as you begin service. They will be permitted to head to their classroom(s) at 8:25 AM.While in the cafeteria, they will remain your responsibility and will be expected to sit in the designated location while adhering to school rules .

There is a PowerPoint training session that needs to be completed before helping. It is possible to do so from home. BASD will share the link once we have confirmed interest.

For now, these helpers will be visitors as they would not have unsupervised direct contact with students. Once our breakfast helper program is up and running, we will review the need for volunteer clearance paperwork. This requirement is subject to change once the process is up and running and any unanticipated need for clearances arises.
