Boyertown Berks Career and Technical Centers (BCTC) Students Score Well in Competitions

Boyertown Berks Career and Technical Centers  (BCTC) students participated in competitions held at  Pennsylvania College of Technology (PCT).

Diesel Technology students competed at PCT’s third annual diesel competition. Students tested their skills in 11 industry-sponsored stations ranging from air conditioning and basic electricity to hydraulics and suspension. BCTC Heavy Equipment Technology and Diesel Technology competed against 10 other Career and Technical Centers from Pennsylvania. BCTC Heavy Equipment competitors came in 1st place for the overall school, winning $5,000.00 in training aids for their program. The Heavy Equipment Technology Team includes two BASH students:
Ethan Dierolf - 11th Grade, and Brayden Richard - 12th Grade

BCTC Diesel Technology Team came in 3rd place for the overall school. The Diesel Technology Team includes Blake Patten, 12th-grader.

Individual winners included: Ethan Dierolf - Diesel Technology – 1st place in Group 31 Battery Configuration.  

Blake Patten - Diesel Technology – 3rd place in Power Take of Set- Up.

 Brayden Richard - Heavy Equipment Technology – 3rd place in Fitting ID and Hydraulic Pump Overhaul and 3rd place in Precision Measuring.

Over 150 students from nine Career and Technical Centers participated in the SkillsUSA District 4 competition. Competitions included presentations, written tests, and hands-on skills. 37 BCTC students/teams placed in the top 3 of their competition. First-place students will be advancing to the state SkillsUSA competition in April 2024. 

BASH winners include:  Aiden Ferst - 12th Grade - Building Construction Occupations - 1st place Building Construction.

 Jonah Mininger - 12th Grade - Mechatronics Engineering Technology – 1st place Electronics Technology.

 Mackenzie Moyer - 12th Grade - Electrical Occupations – 1st place Electrical Construction Wiring.

Chase Longenberger - 12th Grade - Electrical Occupations – 1st place Industrial Motor Control.

Jessica Atkins - 12th Grade - Culinary Arts – 2nd place Commercial Baking;  Kelton Diamond - 11th Grade - Plumbing & Heating - 3rd place Plumbing.
