Studio B is excited to announce the opening of an exhibit entitled “Roy G Biv,” featuring artists inspired by the colors of the rainbow. The show opens Friday, September 13, 2024, with a opening reception from 5:00-7:00 p.m.
The exhibit was inspired by 17th century scientist Isaac Newton’s explanation of the rainbow, according to gallery director Susan Biebuyck. “Newton explained the rainbow by passing light through a prism and identified the visible spectra as seven distinct colors represented in the acronym ‘Roy G Biv.’
“Our show is a collection of art from artists whose creativity acted as a prism—refracting, bending and expanding their interpretations of each color into an array of styles and techniques. Color inspires; it is the language of the visual arts in its ability to express a wide range of emotions instantly.
“We held an exhibit by the same name in 2012,” Biebuyck continues. “The exhibit was well-received at the time, and we’ve had suggestions throughout the past dozen years to repeat the theme. Several of the artists who were featured in 2012 are returning, but we’ve invited a dozen more.”
The show will hang through November 10, 2024. Studio B is located at 39 E. Philadelphia Ave. in Boyertown, PA. Please visit studiobbb.org for more information.
