Boyertown Alum Band Brings Its Big Sound to Annual Swamp Picnic

If you are ready for some amazing food and entertainment, mark your calendar for The Great Swamp Picnic! This annual community event signals the close of the hot summer months as well as a chance to indulge in some traditional Pennsylvania Dutch delights. The picnic is well known to serve delicious hot roast beef sandwiches, homemade by the New Hanover Evangelical Lutheran Church volunteer hosts.

The food service begins at 4:00 PM in the pavilion at 659 Swamp Picnic Road, Gilbertsville, PA 19525. Other items on the menu include pulled pork, potato salad, French fries, and ice cream. There will also be a flea market.

Entertainment will be provided by the Boyertown Alumni Band beginning at 6:00 PM. This concert is open to all, free of charge. Please bring your lawn chair or blanket for seating. Parking is available at the grove. 

This outdoor concert will feature some fun and familiar selections. There will be traditional marches as well as Broadway tunes. The Blues Brothers Revue, as well as How to Train Your Dragon, are TV and movie favorites. The trumpet section will excite the audience with “Trumpets Wild”! Sacred selection Lead On, O King Eternal will provide a reverent and respectful moment. 

The band always provides a wide variety of music for everyone to enjoy. This is a family-friendly event and open to all age groups.
