Zuber Offers Festive Drive Tour To See Holiday Lights

2024 Grand Prize Winner

by Julie Cordingley

Barely four strands of lights into the outdoor holiday decorating and I was done. It was cold, my wonderland was not materializing, and I was woefully lacking in swag. Did I mention it was cold? It was hard to admit (well, not really) that mine was not meant to be one of those “must see houses.” What made my decision even easier was knowing that I could live vicariously through the beautiful, gaudy, thoughtful, and ridiculous Christmas displays offered by willing participants in our hometown’s light tour. And I am really (yes, really) okay with that!

2024 Best use of technology.

This is the seventh year Zuber Realty has generously organized the Holiday Light Tour. In late October, they sent out an “all call” asking for volunteers who wanted their house included in the drive-bys, and 29 hearty souls responded. Every night from 6-9PM, until the end of this year, their switches will be thrown and the holiday spirit, in all its glory, will be on display. These are the people that know what they are doing and in all likelihood, don’t mind the extreme weather. Good news for the rest of us who just need to get in our warm cars and follow Zuber’s map, to view the houses in the most expedient and efficient way possible. (See map.)

2024 Kid's choice winner.

Along the way, you may want to take a few mental notes so that upon returning home, you can cast your vote for the houses that “spoke to you.” Don’t worry; your choices are not limited to one or two. Zuber has prizes in a number of different categories from the outrageous to the sublime.

Maybe I can even convince those wonderful organizers at Zuber Realty to consider one more prize as kind of an antithesis to the “Clark Griswold”…that being Best Use of Four Strands! I know it would get at least one vote!

It has been over 40 years since a chemist job in Malvern lured Julie Cordingley away from her up state, New York home. She is a proud resident of Gilbertsville! Besides working in industry, at various times she has been a stay-at-home mom, and has just recently retired from Phoenixville Area School District as a (wait for it!) chemistry teacher. It has been a life-long dream to be a writer. She figures she can work at that craft while also traveling with her husband in their drivable RV… a retirement present to herself!
