It has always bugged me when the weather folks on TV make judgements about the weather..."It's going to be a bad day" and other such statements. Who are they to judge? There are times when we desperately need rain and the media make it sound like no one ever wants the showers.
Mu poem may not be the greatest poem, structurally (and should, as of all poetry, be read aloud with lots of inflection), but it pretty well gets across my feelings.
Whether or Not…
Weather is weather, and that’s all that it is.
Weather can be
Hot or cold, warm or mild,
Wet or dry, calm or wild.
But it’s just weather.
Weather is not
Good or bad, happy or sad.
Admittedly, it can make us mad.
But it’s still just weather.
Cyclones and hurricanes
May swirl and blow.
They’re just wind and rain,
This much we know.
There might be tornadoes
That can cause many frets,
But they’re not wicked
(unless you’re in Oz or Massachusetts).
We can predict, plot, measure or scale.
We can pray for blue skies
Or the lack of large hail,
But who is to judge whether weather is nice?
Some folks actually love the snow & the ice.
