from The Expression staff: As part of our mission, The Expression staff--consisting of two former teachers--are pleased to share updates about the accomplishments of Boyertown High School's graduates. In many cases, we were privileged to be their teachers, but in all cases we believe that the community is served knowing that supporting these young people through their tax dollars has led to uncommon success..
The article “Radical Biblical Hospitality: An Intentional Focus on the Guest Experience” written by 1987 BASH graduate Jeffrey Clouser, was recently published in the Fall 2025/Winter 2026 issue of the CrossAccent: A Journal of the Association of Lutheran Church Musicians.
His article asks churches to consider whether or not their guests and visitors will encounter an inward-focused or outward-focused church while offering hospitable suggestions and ideas that can be adapted to the church’s context.
Jeff received a BS degree in Elementary and Special Education from Millersville University in 1991 and earned his Certification in Church Music through Virginia Wesleyan University in 2015.
In May of 2021, Jeff graduated from Trinity Lutheran Seminary at Capital University with a Master of Arts Degree in Church Music. The faculty at TLS honored Jeff with the May Schwarz Award in Church Music, which is given to “a graduating student who show[s] outstanding potential for and commitment to the church’s music ministry.”
Jeff currently serves as director of the Memorial Bells at Elizabethtown Church of the Brethren and is enrolled in the M.Div. program at Garrett Evangelical Theological Seminary.
Jeff’s pastoral musician research has appeared in Worship Music & Ministry: a Journal of the United Church of Christ Musicians Association, the CrossAccent: a Journal of the Association of Lutheran Church Musicians, and in ACDA’s quarterly online magazine ChorTeach.
In addition to leading music ministries in Lancaster and Lebanon, Jeff has worked as an instructional assistant supporting learners with intellectual and emotional disabilities, served as President for the Central PA Handbell Festival, and sang tenor with the Elizabethtown College Community Choir.
Originally from Boyertown, PA, Jeff now resides in Mount Joy with his husband Brent and their dogs Daisy and Bentley, and he maintains membership with the Handbell Musicians of America and UCCMA.
Jeff enjoys working in his yard, trips to the beach, time with family including his son Addison and wife Rachel, and the pursuit of lifelong learning.
