Progress is a wonderful thing. To honor progress, Thursday night the TriCounty Area Chamber of Commerce hosted their Progress Dinner. This annual event celebrates innovation, growth, and community accomplishments in the Boyertown area over the past year.
Also Thursday, Boyertown Senior High choral music director Jeffrey K. Brunner was sitting on a bus with music students and other chaperones about to travel to Newark Airport to grab a flight to France. When he looked out the bus window, he spotted Boyertown's 2026 Citizen of the Year, Jayne McHugh.
Sporting her red Alumni Marching Unit sweatshirt, McHugh was jumping up and down and waving her arms in the air to bid the high school musicians farewell and send them off on their adventure.
A class of '74 alum, McHugh was a twirler in the marching unit. After graduation, she became one of the driving forces in the creation and growth of the alumni group.
Boyertown at its best. Sometimes the best things are those that stay the same.
