Bally’s annual Halloween Parade is the perfect way to spend the evening for those who may have missed the Boyertown event or for those who prefer a shorter route that is easy to navigate. The parade kicks off on Main Street in Bally on Oct. 27 at 7pm.

Participants line up at the Bally pool and can register at nearby Borough Hall at or before 6:00 p.m. tonight. The parade route can be seen below.

The Bally parade has a long history going back decades, and is sponsored by the Bally Lions Club, a volunteer organization. Lee Heffner, a member of the group, notes that the club has about 34 members, roughly one-third of whom live in Bally. The rest live in the surrounding areas like Barto and Bechtelsville.

Individuals and groups in costumes, floats, and bands – including a combined Boyertown Middle School East and Middle School West group and a Celtic band – will entertain the crowd and compete for a variety of cash prizes in categories like “outstanding large float” and “outstanding small float,” “outstanding scout group” and “judge’s choice.”

Children who march in the parade will receive $1.00, courtesy of the Lions Club, whose volunteers will be stationed along the parade route to collect donations to fund future parades and other activities.

“During my years in the club, we have accomplished a lot for the people who live in the area,” Heffner says. “It’s really nice. People support us and help. They appreciate what we do for the town and for those in need,” he concludes.
