Boyertown Area Choral Arts will present its 30th annual holiday concert on Sunday, December 4th at 3 p.m. The performance will be held at The Good Shepherd United Church of Christ located at 35 W. Philadelphia Avenue in Boyertown. After a three-year hiatus due to COVID restrictions, BACA is back with a new name (formerly known as The Boyertown Area Choral Association) but the same enthusiastic group of local singers. Donna M. House is back as the director with Robin Ward again providing piano accompaniment.
“Sing for Joy” is the theme for this concert because it sums up the feeling of the group of 50+ members who are thrilled to be singing together again after such a long time. The energetic opening number "Here We Come A-Caroling" will instantly get the audience in the holiday mood. The quiet beauty of the season is felt in “The First Noel” and “All on a Cold Winter’s Night.” The chorus will also perform familiar favorites with new arrangements, such as a contemporary jazz version of “It Came Upon the Midnight Clear” and “Frosty the Snowman” with a big-band vibe.
A free-will offering will be taken with a portion of the proceeds designated for the Margaretta R. Lamb Scholarship, a fund in memory of BACA’s original director and beloved Boyertown music teacher.
Audience members are invited to join the chorus for a cookie reception immediately following the performance.
