Eastern Berks Fire Department Lays Foundation for the Future

May 3, 2023, Eastern Berks Fire Department officially purchased a 3+ acre lot along Route 100 in Washington Township on which to build in the future.

Located just south of Calvary UCC Church, the land was purchased from the Rhodes family, with the assistance of Ryan Weller of Weichert Realty. The department, which is a combination of the fire companies in Bally, Barto, and Bechtelsville, has been searching for land for the past five years, and was thrilled to be able to purchase this lot located is in the middle of the five municipalities it covers: Bechtelsville and Bally Boroughs, and the townships of Washington, District and a portion of Pike.

Plans for the land use and development are not finalized.  As a first step, the department's sign, currently located further south on Rt 100, will be relocated onto the lot along with a Fire Danger sign which had been located on the site of the former Barto station on Old Route 100.
