Boyertown Junior Woman’s Club donates Over $9,000 to Children’s Alliance of Berks County.

 Boyertown Junior Woman’s Club held their annual Girls' Night Out Basket Raffle Fundraiser in March. The evening proved to be a major success and helped raise over $13,000. BJWC members selected the Children’s Alliance of Berks County to receive seventy percent of the event's profit this year.

Members of Boyertown Junior Woman's Club invited Amy Sundstrom, director of Children’s Alliance of Berks County, to their end-of-year banquet where they presented her with a contribution check in the amount of $9,315.

Commenting on the donation, Sundstrom said, “We were amazed and overwhelmed to receive a large donation check from GFWC Junior Woman’s Club of Boyertown. We cannot thank them enough for their generosity and support of our work with child abuse victims. These funds will enable us to remodel the walls and décor in our center, so children of all ages feel welcomed and safe when they arrive. The funds will also enable us to provide more soundproofing in our interview rooms, which is crucial due to the confidential and sensitive nature of the information discussed in those rooms.”

The Children’s Alliance Center of Berks County (“CAC”) is a service of the Berks County District Attorney’s office that serves child victims of sexual abuse under the age of 18. The CAC strives to reduce the child’s trauma by providing a unique multidisciplinary response to child abuse.
