By Margaret Leidy Harner from her book One Day at a Time: A Social History of Boyertown, PA
October 31, 1992: A skull, lower torso wrapped in a bed sheet, upper torso bones scattered around the scene, and tattered clothing have been found in Pine Forge woods by hunters this morning.
Fractures found on the skull were consistent with wounds inflicted by the discharge of a high velocity projectile. Officials have verified that the victim had been shot at another location and transported to the wooded area.
The deceased was later identified by a forensic pathologist and dentist as Alan Earl Bailey, whose last known address was in Pottstown in 1984. Bailey was the President of the Pottstown chapter of the Wheels of Soul Motorcycle Club.
State police, a Colebrookdale detective, and Pottstown police have been working on the case.
Sunny, with a high of 81 and low of 60 degrees. Sunny in the morning, clear overnight.
Kudos to Zack! In these troubled times, the world could use many more people like him. And kudos to Boyertown for providing the kind of atmosphere where Zack (and others like him) can grove and thrive. Finally, is the book mentioned still available? I'd like to buy one as I remember all of the people mentioned.
Yes, Mark. The books are available at Studio B Art Gallery and the Building a Better Boyertown office.Â
