In his sermon “Meditation 17,” 17th century British minister and poet John Donne says, "No man is an island, entire of itself; every man is a piece of the continent, a part of the main. ... any man’s death diminishes me, because I am involved in mankind, and therefore never send to know for whom the bells tolls; it tolls for thee."
Over this past week the Boyertown area community has lost two men who spent a good part of their lives being supportive of worthwhile programs, civic groups, and constructive progress. As these next days pass, many words will be shared about the specifics of their contributions. However, we do not need the specifics to know that the community has indeed been diminished by their loss.
