May 1, 1936: Artist Frederick Sands Brunner Introduced to Boyertown Community

May 1, 1936: Called Boyertown’s Norman Rockwell, Frederick Sands Brunner is one of America’s cleverest pencil and brush artists.
Professionally known as F. Sands Brunner, his paintings are famous for their rich color and skillful use of lighting. They adorn the covers of Ladies Home Journal, Country Gentleman, Saturday Evening Post and other nationally circulated magazines.
He has painted illustrations advertising Coca Cola, Canada Dry and numerous other products. During World War II, he supplied the Red Cross with patriotic posters. His most famous portrait is that of his childhood friend, General Carl A. Spaatz.
