What is more fun than a day at the park? The Boyertown Community Park. There are areas for children to play, pavilions to eat your picnic lunch, an exercise station, a Frisbee golf course, but the most special and most popular activity is the Fenstermacher Walking Trail winding through the park. The Boyertown Community Library has made it even more special for families by adding stops along the path to read pages from children’s favorite books!

This month features a book, The Other Colors, by Boyertown Area Senior High (BASH)  grad and local illustrator/author, Joel Frain. Joel has always been passionate about art and was inspired to try his hand at it when reading to his three daughters each night before bedtime.

He used his skills as a art major and graduate of Kutztown University and his background with Apple programs to create a whimsical book about the lesser-talked-about colors in your box of 64 Crayola crayons. He turned those colors into fun characters, like Chartreuse Sheep and Indigo Iguana, that children love to hear about time and time again.

When Joel recently read his book to a group of children at the Boyertown Community Library's story time, the staff knew his book would be perfect for Storywalk® in the Park for the month of July!

So pack your picnic lunch and head over to the park with your children or grandchildren and enjoy reading this fun book along your walk.
