Betty J. Burdan has extended Studio B Art Gallery's 2024 summer "I AM: Proud" project by initiating an idea in support of the Boyertown Community Library which she hopes inspires others.
Ms. Burdan explains, "I am proud to offer a Gift-A-Week to the Boyertown Library during Young Readers Week, Nov. 4 to the 8th, and I hope others might follow suit."
Traditionally the library does Gift-A-Day in which donors offer a $100 donation to make sure the library has tools or supplies to run their programs.
"It is so important to get our young folks reading and appreciating real hardbound paper [vs digital] books. If they start reading while they are young, they will be life-long readers, and I am sure there are others like me who might respond to the idea of a week's support for the library," she continues.
"I wanted to plant the idea in those individuals or businesses who have the means or who look forward to a growing population of literate employees. Libraries aren't just places of recreation and entertainment. Libraries and their resources are the root of an improved society," she concludes.
Contact the library for additional details.

Listening to your community is such an important part of being an elected official. Thanks to all of the candidates who had the courage to come out and answer 17 questions submitted by our community on the fly. I think it’s important to note that none of the incumbent candidates made it a priority to attend.
Thank you for the ghost stories at this time of year. It's great to have the variety of artiicles you (Jane and Leslie) put together for our local information, our entertainment and contemplation--keep up the good work!
