Boyertown's Big Lots Store To Close
Big Lots' parent company has announced that Big Lots is closing all of its locations. The Boyertown area store is located in the Town Plaza Shopping Center. Over this past year more than 400 of the stores have already closed. Stores that are still open are preparing to begin "going out of business" sales.
However, Bruce Thorn, CEO, has stated that the stores could remain open if a sale of the company can be brought to fruition. The newspaper USA Today quotes Thorn as saying, “We all have worked extremely hard and have taken every step to complete a going concern sale. While we remain hopeful that we can close an alternative going concern transaction, in order to protect the value of the Big Lots estate, we have made the difficult decision to begin the GOB process.”
