John's poetic rhythm is addictive. His few words provoke memory and linger. John will share his latest books including the quirky memoir Captain Beefheart Never Licked My Decals Off, Baby, his “artistic journey,” and tips for success that have sustained him as a working writer for over 50 years with more than 40 published books and hundreds of articles and thousands of poems.

On October 12, we'll look at people with Barbara Post's "Artists Look at People: The Portrait." Interest in faces begins when we are babies, for practical and obvious reasons, and continues throughout our lives. Most of us enjoy people watching and even sharing our personal photos with one another. Long before snapshots, Facebook, there were quick charcoal/pencil sketches and especially portrait paintings. We’ll take a look at how master artists from the past & present have created their images of both real & imagined people, as well as their own (self) portraits. artist Barbara Post
