It’s time to mark your calendar for a night of unforgettable festive music and local art at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Boyertown.
Saturday evening, December 13, at 7:00 PM, the Boyertown Director’s Big Band will present a celebration of Jazz and Big Band Holiday music. This annual event is open to the public free of charge.
The band is made up of local musicians and features vocalists as well. Many audience members enjoy the band in the Boyertown Park during the summer months. This concert is held indoors in the church sanctuary. There is ample parking, as well as accessibility for people with disabilities. It is a family-friendly event, and Director Jim Dugan says, “It is the perfect way to kick off the Holiday Season."
The evening will open with Glenn Miller’s version of Jingle Bells, followed by Gordon Goodwin's I Heard the Bells on Christmas Day. Many of us remember watching the Peanuts TV Specials and will enjoy Christmas Time Is Here, featuring our female vocalist. Hot Chocolate from the movie Polar Express will also be on the docket for the evening along with many traditional favorites like Santa Claus Is Coming To Town.
Prior to the concert at 5:00 PM, an art exhibit by local fine artist Julie Longacre will be available to view and/or purchase. 20% of artwork proceeds will be donated to the Boyertown Community Library.
Please, don’t miss this festive community night of entertainment!
