When we welcome a new year it is customary to review, reminisce, and analyze the past as we create resolutions and make plans for the future. We know the famous quote, "Those who don't know history, are destined to repeat it." The past shines a light on the best way forward; the past helps us avoid repeating our mistakes.
In keeping with that, over the upcoming days, The Expression will be republishing some of the most read stories of the past year, and we will be sharing some informative articles about the trends of the past year. As always, we are inviting and encouraging our readers to respond and share some of their thoughts. That's why we are named "The Boyertown Area Expression." You don't need to be a gourmet writer; you just have to share a little of yourself in whatever words you choose.
The first article we are republishing is an essay called, "Breaking Ties," written by Phil Repko. If you missed it, you can read it right below. In the article, Phil reflects on the role (neck) ties have played in his life, how they have helped to define him, how his relationship with them has changed over time, and why he is struggling with ending that relationship.
We invite our readers to share with us a little (or more) about an extremely important object in their lives. We know the people we cherish come first, but what is the next thing you most deeply cherish? Tell us what it is, how you came to have it, what it means to you, why you would struggle with letting it go. Email what you write to either Leslemisko@aol.com or JaneEStahl@comcast.net
