Are you a creative person who feels distracted? Lost in a tornado of ideas? Blocked by a big blank page?

Blackout Poetry, a form of "found" poetry, can help!

By working with someone else's words in a book, magazine, or newspaper, you can find new poems, new stories, new art! After an intro to the form, students will search texts, be surprised by new ideas, and black out the words they don't need. What's left? A unique piece of writing they probably wouldn't have "found" any other way! Using inspirational pieces of blackout poetry, students can choose to illustrate their own poem[s] in a variety of ways.

Students will go home with illustrated poem[s], a paperback journal for capturing future poems, and a refreshed creative confidence!

No poetry experience is required for this class, and all materials [texts, markers, pencils, paints, crayons, collage papers, glue] will be provided for use in class. Please feel free to bring any art supplies/stickers/magazines you'd like to work with for your own personal use.

(Payment can be made by cash, check or credit card. For credit card payments, use the "Support" button on www.studiobbb.org.)
