Not something you see every day…

Multi-colored bikes displayed outside, amongst the snow banks, on North Reading Avenue. And in case there is any confusion, a bright neon orange Velotric sign announcing a new store is opening, featuring the latest and most popular mode of transportation – eBikes! David March, the owner of eBIKE Revolution Store hopes to entice passersby sighing for warmer weather.

March, a Boyertown native, wanted his business in town so he moved his storefront to the former Firefly Café, but kept his original Laurel Road site, making that location the company’s warehouse and repair shop. According to Revolution’s very enthusiastic manager, Amy Gamler, “Everyone is happy to be in such a great location. This community and surrounding area have beautiful countryside with wide rolling hills.

The key word being hills!” For bicycle purists, this type of terrain is sought after for the physical challenge. But for others, it may be a little off-putting trying to find suitable routes that are gentler (aka flatter!). Ebikes allow riders to travel further with less exhaustion, help the environment by producing zero emissions, and encourage those with physical limitations to enjoy the cycling experience. With an eBike, it is possible to pedal as a regular bicycle or choose different levels of assistance including full out throttle. As Gamler states, eBikes are a way “to split the difference.”

There is a definite increase in eBike interest, most notably amongst the 40+ crowd - the casual rider, the adventurous RVers, delivery personnel, active retirees, commuters, and surprisingly, hunters. Given the different cliental and their varied and very personal needs, it is highly recommended that potential buyers come in for a test ride in order to feel the difference in models and brands. The Revolution offers high quality – with the assurance that their bikes are street safe.

Many of the store’s 5-star reviews come from customers that praise March and his crew for taking as much time as needed to ensure customers get their perfect bike. According to their beautifully designed and informative website, www.ebikerevolutionstore.com, "This is NOT a sales pitch. It is a relaxed, educational, hands-on session designed for riders who want maximum clarity, comfort, and confidence before making a purchase."

Looking down the road (figuratively!) there are plans for Boyertown’s new eBike store to promote group rides, to host fundraisers and/or charity functions. But for the present, if there is any thought to owning an eBike, check out their website and then make it a point to stop in. Gamler sums it up quite nicely when she says “your knees will thank you.”

It has been over 40 years since a chemist job in Malvern lured Julie Cordingley away from her up state, New York home. She is a proud resident of Gilbertsville! Besides working in industry, at various times she has been a stay-at-home mom, and has just recently retired from Phoenixville Area School District as a (wait for it!) chemistry teacher. It has been a life-long dream to be a writer. She figures she can work at that craft while also traveling with her husband in their drivable RV… a retirement present to herself!
