The Boyertown community is mourning the loss of Kenneth Hunt, a dedicated public servant and advocate for those in need, who passed away recently. Community members remembered Ken not only for his accomplishments, but also for his humility, warmth, and deep compassion. His full obituary can be found here.
Mr. Hunt spent more than two decades enriching the Boyertown area through a wide range of volunteer roles and nonprofit leadership positions. Since 2005, he served as Executive Director of the United Way of Boyertown Area, where his leadership helped raise over $4 million to support more than 20 local agencies. In a statement, the United Way shared, it was "deeply saddened by the passing of our Director, and dedicated philanthropist...May we continue to lead our wonderful Boyertown Community through his example of leadership, empathy, and generosity.”
Ken's contributions extended far beyond United Way. As a longtime board member and Secretary of the Berks Mont Business Association (BMBA), he played a crucial role in organizing the annual Philadelphia Avenue Street Fair—a community tradition that coincidentally coincided with the day of his memorial service, June 7, 2025. BMBA honored him in a tribute, calling him “a passionate and humble leader who truly cared for the people of Boyertown.” The organization added, "May all who knew and loved him continue to care for and serve the Boyertown Community through his legacy.”
In 2024, Ken was recognized as the 70th annual Boyertown Area Citizen of the Year. The Boyertown Area Expression profiled him in March 2024, celebrating his work with the Homelessness Task Force, Meals on Wheels, AARP tax prep, and youth tutoring. Ken also was also known for helping individuals in crisis, often quietly and without fanfare.
Raised in Bucks County and educated at the University of Delaware and Drexel University, Ken made Boyertown his home after joining Cabot Corporation in 2000. He leaves behind his partner, Bernice Bates, their beloved dogs Lilly and Charlie, and a legacy of kindness and community service.
Ken's life’s work will continue to inspire all who seek to make a difference.
