The post reads:
“Meet ARLINE CHRIST!
“Almost 25 years ago, in January of 2001, the Carousel at Pottstown had an incredible stroke of luck when Arline retired from Boyertown School District where she had been an Art teacher! In April of that year, she responded to an all call looking for volunteers to begin painting the Carousel animals, and by May, she was working on her first GIRAFFE!
“Arline has invested an immeasurable amount of her life to create the beauty we see in the Carousel today. She has single-handedly painted 15 of the animals from start to finish!!!
“When asked if she remembers all the animals she worked on, she replied by asking us if we remembered all the pets we’ve ever owned! She went on to explain that each animal that is painted becomes a part of the artist… especially after spending hundreds of hours with them! While she loves them all, her favorites were the three ZEBRAS and SNEAKERS!
Arline didn’t stop helping the Carousel when the painting was completed: she also served as a Board Member for at least a dozen years! Everyone at the Carousel at Pottstown has a soft spot for Arline. She is a rare treasure, and we are forever grateful to her!!!”
The Facebook comments following this post focus on thanking Arline and describing her as a wonderful and generous person. Reader Mary Sharon McGinley says that Arline’s dedication, talent, and kindness “create positive energy.”
Former Boyertown Area School District superintendent describes her as “a wonderful teacher who really cared about every child.” Thomas Blocher, retired district acting superintendent agrees, saying, “She always had the kids’ interests at heart. She did amazing things for the school district and the community.”
