Tablets Available for Nuclear Power Plant Emergency

Photo from Wikipedia.

If you live in Montgomery County and are within 10 miles of the Limerick Power Plant, you may want to update your potassium tablets. Residents within the 10 mile zone are encouraged to have sufficient tablets on hand for each member of the family who resides there.

The tablets are to be taken only at the direction of state government officials who will give the order in the event of a nuclear emergency at the power plant. It is believed that the tablets can help protect the thyroid gland from radioactive material.

Tablets are free and will be available at the Pottstown Health Center, 364 King Street and the Limerick Fire Company on 390 W. Ridge Pike, Limerick.  Distribution will be Thursday, Aug. 14 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.

(Narcan kits, the medication that is used to help save someone's life  in the event of an overdose of certain drugs,  will also be available at the Pottstown location.)

Transportation Eras Collide

As Horse Pulls Buggy and Passengers through Town

Local resident Kevin Brumbach snapped this lovely photo and shared it on Facebook. Those who saw it conjectured about where it came from and where it was going. One thing is certain: it helps make the Boyertown area a "special kind of place."
