Christmas Memories

I love vintage and tacky Christmas ornaments, can't help it, they bring back so many memories for me. A lot of older women (aunts, church ladies, grandmas and neighbors) made sequence ornaments when I was a kid. My Aunt Barbara's mother, Edith, made these. She always gave us one every year for Christmas. She also made beaded soap ornaments out of a bar of soap, using beads and sequins on straight pins to stick into the soap, like the one pictured. I think she used Cashmere Bouquet soap which really stank. I always wished she would use Dove; I loved the way that smelled. I don't have any of the soap ornaments Edith made. We probably ran out of soap and used them....just kidding. They would get sticky and collect dust. I think we probably threw them out.

Do you have a favorite Christmas ornament? If so, we would love to share it. Send to: Leslemisko@aol.com  or  JaneEStahl@comcast.net     Please include a photo and a few sentences about what it is meaningful to you.
