As of February 13, 2026, the Boyertown Community Library lost the ability to be a Passport Acceptance Facility as the U. S. Depart. of State revoked privileges for every non-municipal, nonprofit library in Pennsylvania. This is particularly devastating to the library as the revenue for this program makes up more than 13% of the operating budget. Tis loss of reliable revenue can lead to cuts in programming, operating hours, and staff.
We are currently partnering with the American Library Association to possibly find ways to change this law. We also are very appreciative for the support from our four municipalities, three of which have increased their monetary support for this year. However, even with that increase, it is not enough to cover the loss of revenue that the passports provided to the library.
Community members can help by contacting their federal lawmakers and conveying their support for the Community Passport Access Services Act, H.R. 6997.
Additionally, making a donation to the Boyertown Community Library and attending upcoming fundraising events will have an impact for the Boyertown Library.
Upcoming fundraisers include:
Minmi Golf at the Library (April 10 & 11)
Libations in the Library (May 9)
Check 'Em Out Basket Raffle (October 9 & 10)
