A permanent StoryWalk® has been installed at Boyertown Community Park thanks to the Boyertown Community Library. Children, families and those of all ages will be able to enjoy this outdoor literacy experience.
Those in the Boyertown area are familiar with the StoryWalk® on Wednesdays at the Boyertown Park when book pages are displayed along a trail or walking path to encourage literacy and outdoor experiences.
Since September 2020, the Boyertown Community Library had set up a temporary yard sign. In July 2023, a permanent StoryWalk®, available to display books year round, was installed with plans to have a new story every month--available all month, not just on Wednesdays.
“We are very excited to offer this new addition to Boyertown Park. So many families and individuals have enjoyed the StoryWalk® and I am happy that even more people will now enjoy it.” says Sairra Cloen, the Boyertown Library staff member who oversees this project. “I wasn’t sure if this was something we could actually do; but when a member of our fundraising committee said 'Let’s try,' I was excited that it became a reality."
The support for the StoryWalk® has been a community effort, with the proceeds from the Annual Disc Golf Tournament hosted by the library’s Fundraising Committee and Phat Cats Disco Golf group, funding the project. Cement and other supplies were generously donated by AD Moyer Lumber. A team of volunteers assisted in the installation of the posts
