As the editors of The Expression, Jane and I are delighted to see high school students posting on The Expression to share the important and commendable things they do. -- Lesley
Boyertown Students Raising Awareness and Support for Autism Through HOSA Project.
My name is Abriana Giannini, and along with my partner, Tyler Yuengel, we are students at Boyertown Senior High School and members of HOSA – Future Health Professionals. For our Community Awareness project, we have chosen to focus on autism awareness and support.
Over the next few months, we will be organizing events throughout Boyertown to bring people together, spread accurate information, and raise funds. Every dollar we raise will be donated to the So Much to Give Inclusive Café in Ceders, PA. This nonprofit café provides meaningful employment opportunities for individuals with disabilities, including those on the autism spectrum, while creating a welcoming and inclusive space for all.
Our very first event will be held on Saturday, August 23rd, at Freed’s Market in Gilbertsville. We will be selling baked goods and autism awareness bracelets, with all proceeds going toward the café. We invite community members to stop by, enjoy a sweet treat, and support a meaningful cause.
In addition to attending events, we are also looking for sponsors to partner with us. Sponsorships will not only help us cover event expenses and grow our impact, but they will also directly benefit the Inclusive Café. Sponsors will be recognized at our events and in our community outreach, showing their support for autism awareness and inclusion.
Our goal is to not only raise money for the café but also to help break down stigmas and start important conversations about autism within our community. We believe that Boyertown can be a leader in promoting acceptance, inclusion, and understanding. We are excited to see the community come together for this cause, and we hope many of you will join us at Freed’s Market on August 23rd and at our future events.
